Middle Eastern Dance Artist Almaaza
About Almaaza
Almaaza, a native of Montreal, Canada has been performing and teaching Middle Eastern dance for over twenty years. Her background includes the study of classical ballet, ballroom dance, jazz, dances of the Middle East, Flamenco, Indian classical dance, Tai Chi, and yoga. She specializes in Arabic style oriental and folkloric dances and has studied with many renowned dancers in this tradition. Almaaza has performed extensively in nightclubs, theaters, schools, museums, haflas, and Arabic restaurants throughout the eastern states. She has been teaching Middle Eastern dance since 1982. Almaaza has also lived in Lebanon and has conducted dance research in Egypt. She performs regularly at the Casablanca Restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware.

Behind the Veil Dance Troupe
Almaaza, Maya, and Ilianna are members of Behind the Veil. Our mission is to educate the public and promote this dance form and the culture connected to it.
We are all seasoned professional who have had extensive training in this dance form and other dance forms as well. We are also teachers in the Newark, New Castle and Prices Corner area.
Behind the Veil is available for special events, fund raisers, Arabic weddings, educational programs, and parties. A few of the events we have performed at include: Faithful Friends fundraiser, Fall Spa Bash, a benefit for Breast Cancer, Girls Inc, University of Delaware, Wellness Center, Cancer Society, and the Mary Campbell Center. Behind the Veil has also presented a series of workshops geared for women who want to find out about this ancient dance form.
